Gasopslag Nederland is a representative organisation of gas storage operators and developers. The founders are Eneco Gasspeicher, Gasunie Zuidwending and Gas Storage Bergermeer. As of October 2012 Etzel-Kavernenbetriebsgesellschaft is also a member of the organisation and as of September 2013 innogy Gas Storage NWE (former RWE Gasspeicher). All members have a connection agreement with the operator of the national gas transmission network (GTS).
Eneco Gasspeicher is an underground gas storage facility in salt caverns. Eneco Gasspeicher’s gas storage installation is built approximately three kilometres from the German-Dutch border in the German municipality of Epe. Eneco has leased two caverns here from SGW (Salzgewinnungsgesellschaft Westfalen).
Gasunie has its own gas storage facility in the underground salt layers near Zuidwending in East Groningen. Gasunie Zuidwending has four caverns in operation and is currently building a fifth one. The Gasunie Zuidwending natural gas buffer holds flexible gas supplies in salt caverns deep underground and is particularly well equipped for switching rapidly between gas injection and send-out processes and vice versa.
Gas Storage Bergermeer
TAQA Energy exploits and produces gas in the Netherlands and works with its partners on underground gas storage in Bergermeer. Gasopslag Bergermeer (Bergermeer Gas Storage) consists of a gas well location where gas is pumped out of the Bergermeer field and an installation in Alkmaar where the gas is purified and pumped into the pipeline network.
Etzel-Kavernenbetriebsgesellschaft (EKB) is a partnership between BP, DONG Energy and Gazprom Germania. EKB was established with the aim of creating and exploiting an underground gas storage facility. The gas storage facility is located in Etzel in the German federal state of Lower Saxony. The EKB gas storage facility consists of six salt caverns and is connected to both German and Dutch gas networks.
innogy Gas Storage NWE
innogy Gas Storage NWE is based in Dortmund and has bundled the storage activities of the innogy SE Group in Germany and the Netherlands. Innogy Gas Storage NWE operates and markets five gas storages in total of which three gas storage facilities are located in Gronau-Epe, one of the biggest cavern fields in the world at the Dutch/German border. One facility, storage EPE NL, is connected to the Dutch transmission grid of GTS and storing Groningen Gas (G-Gas).
OMV Gas Storage Germany GmbH
OMV Gas Storage Germany GmbH is a competent and reliable service provider with many years of experience in the storage of Natural Gas. Etzel is situated in North-West Germany and is connected to both the Netherlands gas network (GTS – Gas Transport Services) and the NCG (NetConnect Germany) and Gaspool market areas via the German NETRA Pipeline (North German Natural Gas Transversal). The working gas volume of the cavern storage facility offered by OMV is about 5.3 million MWh (about 465 million cubic meters).
